Facial Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion

Facial microdermabrasion is another tool used to fight the effects of aging and sun-damage by revitalizing and resurfacing the outer layer of skin through exfoliation. Like an ultra-gentle form of sandblasting, fine salt crystals are sprayed onto the skin and then vacuumed away to leave behind a tighter, more youthful complexion.

This nonsurgical clinical procedure peels away dead skin cells leaving behind softer, smoother skin characterized by improved skin tone, a more even colour and minimized pores. It also results in noticeable improvements in the appearance of acne scars, blemishes, age spots, fine lines and stretch marks. Your skin will feel younger and more elastic since microdermabrasion helps stimulate the natural growth of collagen. Collagen is part of the natural support structure of your skin. When it thins, your skin forms wrinkles. Collagen loss results mostly from the aging process but sun exposure, pollution, general health, genetic influences and lifestyle all play a role.

Microdermabrasion is usually performed over a number of sessions, generally two weeks apart. The number of sessions will be determined by the degree of damage to your skin and the area to be treated. There is minimal discomfort and you can return to work or your normal activities immediately following the procedure. There are no side effects, except for a slight pinkish glow to the skin that may last for several hours.

The cost of facial microdermabrasion varies according to the patient’s individual needs.
